Once upon a time there was a little elephant called Eleboot.
The smallest in the herd - and the most curious of them all.
Everybody loved Eleboot: Mum and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, all the aunts and uncles.
And so Eleboot was sure of one thing:
Anything is possible!
What Eleboot loved most was running: across the grass, along the path, through the forest.
A puddle up ahead - Splash!
A patch of mud - Roll!
Feet feeling the earth, toes playing in the warm mud. Now that is real happiness.
But one evening Eleboot came home tired and muddy from trunk to toes.
“We need to look after your little feet,” Mum said gently.
“We will bring you a special pair of boots,” Dad added.
“Boots?” Eleboot asked in surprise. “But I love running barefoot!”
“These boots are different,” Mum smiled. “They are so light that you will still feel the ground, and your toes will still be free.”
Eleboot slipped one foot in. Then the other. A step forward, a dash back, and then -
Stomp-stomp!
Running, jumping, splashing into a puddle, rolling in the mud.
And when Eleboot looked down, the toes were still wiggling freely and the little feet were safe and sound.
“I am still barefoot!” Eleboot laughed.
Ever since, Eleboot and those boots have gone everywhere together.
Still running, still rolling, still jumping - and making the whole herd smile.
So when you see a little elephant running happily, remember:
